High-quality condenser microphones are the single most important pieces of equipment for acoustic music. i-Record uses:

Schoeps cardioid, omni-directional and figure-8 microphones for the simple reason that they offer an unparalleled accuracy of reproduction. They are also used by the world's top classical labels.

Royer R-121 fig. 8 ribbon microphones

Josephson C42 cardioid condenser microphones

Mytek AD & DA converters

DAV Electronics Broadhurst Gardens preamplifiers, as used by Decca Records

Alesis Masterlink master hard-disk recorder. We routinely record at 24-bit/88.2-kHz for absolute fidelity - this is twice the recording quality of CD.

Adam P22-a active monitoring loudspeakers

Mackie Onyx analogue mixing console - this is used for signal routing during tracking alone. Preamps and EQ are very high-quality outboard units.

Projects are digitally recorded simultaneously to an outboard hard disk recorder and an Apple Powerbook.

Editing and post-production are completed using Apple Logic Pro 7on an Apple G5 PowerMac system. We useAltiverb, a superb convolution reverb to add stunning depth to recordings that have not benefited from a prime acoustic location. We use Waves Z-Noise for removal of any noise artifacts, and we have an arsenal of tools to make your recording sound its best. Logic Pro allows for virtually limitless editing capabilities, ensuring that if the right notes are there, they can be slotted seamlessly within the context of an entire piece.

In addition all location recordings and our post-production facility are cabled using Van Damme AES/EBU digital cable for pristine sonic integrity.
